The Alliance for Epilepsy Research (AER) is an advocacy group
founded by a grass roots effort. It is a voice for those
affected by epilepsy.
The AER has been formed to encourage and support innovative epilepsy
research and to increase public awareness of epilepsy and epilepsy's
impact. Since current treatments for epilepsy are often
unsuccessful and side effects can be detrimental to quality of life, new treatments and a cure for epilepsy are
the targets of AER's support.
AER was founded in 1996. Dr. Ivan Osorio, an Epileptologist,
Susan Arthurs, an airline pilot who lost her job, career and hobby
to epilepsy and Dr. Rich Davis of Kansas City were all instrumental
in its founding, development and growth. It is an all
volunteer organization.
Our Mission
